April 4, 2022 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CDT
Tackling water quality and nutrient pollution issues in the Great Lakes will require more robust economic and land use efforts at the state and local levels.

Speakers will dig into:
- Policy opportunities for state and local governments, with a focus on the intersection of intensifying agricultural production, climate resilience, and water quality
- Utilizing economic levers to limit fertilizer inputs – specifically fertilizer taxes and pricing
- Parallels between Everglades restoration and the Great Lakes
Panelists include:
- Silvia Secchi, Professor of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Iowa
- David Kanter, Professor of Environmental Studies at New York University
- Al Steinman, Professor of Water Resources, and the Director of Annis Water Resources Institute at Grand Valley State University
The conversation will be moderated by Tom Zimnicki, Alliance for the Great Lakes Director of Restoration and Agriculture Policy.
